Over the years, we’ve noticed that the same small mistakes tend to come up again and again. Fortunately, they’re all easy to avoid with a little planning.

1.Try to Please Everyone

One of the most common mistakes is trying to satisfy every guest’s expectations. There will always be different opinions about the music, the food, the schedule or the drinks. Plan the wedding that reflects you as a couple. Your guests are there to celebrate your happiness, not to judge your choices.

2.Leave Decisions Until the Last Minute

We strongly recommend booking your suppliers early, signing a contract and paying the required deposit to secure each service. Finalise your menu, wines, decoration, insurance and seating plan well in advance. It gives your suppliers time to prepare properly and allows you to enjoy the final weeks before your wedding with far greater peace of mind.

3.Try to Do Everything Yourself

Many couples continue answering suppliers’ questions throughout the wedding day. Once the wedding begins, every practical decision should be handled by your wedding planner or a trusted member of your team, not by you.

4.Overlook Your Suppliers

Photographers, videographers, musicians, DJs and other professionals are often present for 10 to 15 hours. Check in advance whether meals and drinks are included for them throughout the wedding weekend. It’s a small gesture that makes a big difference and is often specified in their contracts.

5.Underestimate Water

On a warm summer day, guests often drink more water than wine. Always provide plenty of still and sparkling water throughout the day, especially during the ceremony and cocktail reception.

6.Forget the Ice

Ice is one of the most commonly overlooked items. Between cooling wine, Champagne, beer, soft drinks and cocktails, the quantity required is often much greater than couples expect. Always order more than you think you’ll need.

7.Neglect Non-Alcoholic Options

Not everyone drinks alcohol.  Fresh fruit juices, homemade infused waters, quality soft drinks and alcohol-free alternatives ensure every guest feels equally considered.

8.Serve Wine at the Wrong Temperature

A great wine served at the wrong temperature quickly loses its appeal. White wines and Crémant should be properly chilled, while red wines are best served around 16–18°C, not at outdoor summer temperatures.

9.Forget to Enjoy the Weekend

Many couples spend months planning every detail and then rush from one moment to the next without taking time to enjoy it.

Allow yourself a few quiet moments together during the weekend, whether it’s a walk through the gardens, a glass of wine after dinner or simply watching your guests enjoy themselves. These are often the memories couples cherish the most.

10.Lose Sight of What Really Matters

When the wedding is over, the flowers will fade, the music will stop and the guests will go home. The only thing that remains is your marriage and your love.

See you very soon,

Paul
